Memorial

On 11 September 2016 a new public memorial was unveiled in Melbourne. "Standing by TunnerMinnerwait & Maulbouyheenner' by artists Brook Andrew and Trent Walter was commissioned by the City of Melbourne after an 11 year campaign by a small committee of Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. The site, at the intersection of Franklin and Victoria streets is near where, on January 20, 1842, 5000 people watched Tunnerminnerwait and Maulboyheenner hang for two murders. It was the first public monument to a Frontier Wars event in a major Australian city.

This is a short 3.30 depiction of the memorial's opening ceremony. Shot on a Blackmagic pocket cinema cam. Also available on Youtube here>
